Dining on Valentine’s Day in the Ville


Showing love to that special someone, can’t be contained to one day a year. However, for those who want to add a little something, something to an otherwise typical Saturday night, which just so happens to fall on Feb. 14, AKA Valentine’s Day, be sure to check out what Streetsville has to offer at some of its finer establishments.

Several eateries throughout the village have come up with menus ­­intended to coax the flames of passion between lovers. You’ll find meals with king oysters, considered No. 2 on the Top 10 list of foods primed to flip your switch into sexy mode, Halibut, with its plethora of omega-3 fatty acids; keeping hormone production at its peak... and lets not forget red wine. It’s a timeless classic, which relaxes you faster than a neck rub and helps boost blood flow.

Cagney’s
Located near the heart of Streetsville, Cagney’s Streetsville Restaurant and Wine Bar is offering up a four-course sitting, in an elegant setting, highlighted with picks from its signature offering. Patrons will have a choice of six different main courses, guaranteeing any taste bud will be satisfied. Choices include Certified Angus Prime Rib or Angus New York Steak served with seasonal vegetables and potato, Halibut with roasted red pepper hollandaise, Shrimp Scampi with mashed potatoes, Stuffed Chicken paired with garlic mashed potatoes and Butternut Squash Ravioli cooked in a lemon sage cream sauce. Mondello Ristorante


Hailed for its customer service and traditional authentic Italian eats, Mondello Ristorante is serving up a custom four-course dinner for all the lovers out there. Diners will have a choice of four different mains, primed to bring pleasure to the partakers. Cannelloni Rattatouile ($50) with stewed eggplant, Chicken Ballontine ($55) stuffed with sundried tomato, fresh Atlantic Lobster ($60) simmered in a tomato white wine herb sauce and Filet Mignon ($65) topped with fried pork belly and grilled to your liking. Saucy
This intimate, family owned restaurant has been drawing in visitors for more then 14 years, with its straightforward approach to a menu, with bold, yet clean flavour combinations. Praised for its consistency as a “neighbourhood favourite”, Saucy is offering up Grilled Herb Marinated Chicken Supreme served with garlic mashed potatoes, Pan Roasted Halibut topped with sundried tomatoes, Grilled Stirploin served with Butter Poached Lobster meat, over garlic parmesan fries and Loose Lasagna: layered fresh pasta sheets with basil ricotta. The Old Barber House
The iconic Old Barber House, known for its Victorian feel and elegant dining experience, is serving up a non-prix fixed menu, so essentially, you can have anything listed before you. Choices include Escargot, Snow Crab Claw and Chilled Seafood Cocktail Classic, New York Striploin, Ribeye, Atlantic Herb Roasted Salmon or the Prosciutto Wrapped Chicken Supreme, just to name a few. Located at 5155 Mississauga Rd., lunch is served from 11:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., while dinner is scheduled for 5 to 10 p.m. Monday to Friday.
