Along the Credit River

The path along the Credit River is full of natural plants and wildlife. Families walk, people bike, couples picnic in and along the trails to River Grove Community centre.

Island Bridge

During this hot summer many people in Streetsville head down to Credit River to enjoy the cooler breeze and sit by the water's edge. The bridge at Vic Johnson's park leads to the island where many of the festivals, sports and entertainment happen.

Bread and Honey Festvial

One of the best community events that I have ever been to The Bread & Honey Festival is something to look forward to every summer in Streetsville. The event turns the hole town into a family friendly place to hang out. It runs 3 days and starts on June 4. With the Sunday parade, pancake breakfast at Vic Johnston's, fishing derby, 10k-5k-1k Race,  consumer market and many more, there is a plethora of events to go to. Streetsville was founded around a flour mill build on the Credit River so spend Saturday afternoon at the fair grounds and get your self some fresh Bread and Honey courtesy of General Mills.  There is a beer tent to catch up with friends for afternoon and during the evening all the bars are packed and a party is in full swing. Being the envy of every near by town it certainly is a cornerstone of Streetsville's appeal. See you next summer!

Streetsville Realestate

I am a home owner in Streetsville and I am always curious about new projects. This new row of town homes on Bristol Rd will be sure to add to the real estate values but blocks what used to be a great view when driving down the hill to Credit River. I wonder what they will be sold for $500k ?

Vic Johnston Community Center

Vic Johnston's was the place I first learned to skate and swim. I think I got up to a maroon swim badge and played a few games of hockey. After the resent renovations, I think Vic Johnston looks great the pool is to re-open by June 2011. In the winter the hill here is awesome for tobogganing, I am sure that many kids have gone home crying after a ride on the steep slope. In the summer the Bread and Honey festival is held here and makes a great place to spend a little pocket money. You can also check out the Streetsville salmon run and have a BBQ on the island park. It’s also available for community rentals. 905-826-3011 or e-mail info@vicjohnston.ca.

Streetsville Credit River Salmon Run

The Credit River runs right through Streetsville and is home to a Salmon/Trout run in October. Some very big fish can be seen displaying their strength and determination. I have a few favorite spots to watch, one of my favorite spots being the Dam near Vic Johnston arena. If you like you can get involved with the CRAA and help with the fish count. I have never caught a trout on one of our Algonquin trips so it is nice to have the event so close to home. What a wonderful thing to happen in Streetsville.

The Streetsville Beaver Dam

There has been a family of beavers living in Streetsville since as long as I can remember. Having nature so close is part of what make Streetsville such a nice place to live. If you follow a small path next to the river at Vic Johnston park there is a beaver lodge at the end. The beavers don't always show but I have consistently seen them for 25 years. Look out for the the delicious black berries that grow vigorously behind the beaver lodge.
