Its St.Patricks Day in Streetsville!

St. Patrick’s Day in Streetsville

St. Patrick died March 17 in AD 461, but I’m sure if he were still around, he would pipe up with a thick Irish accent, beckoning all who are thirsty, to come to the table and enjoy a tall, cool pint of Guinness or some other green coloured beer.
Let’s face it though; the patron saint of Ireland would want you to enjoy Dublin’s finest dry stout, while celebrating Irish culture and its heritage.
So break out your best green attire, don your shamrocks; gather up a posse of your closest friends and head over to one of these fine establishments for a day/night of good times.
Below is a list of some of the places you can hit up and don’t forget to toast your friends with sláinte mhaith (good health) to which the normal response is do dheagh shlàinte (your good health).

Cuchulainns Irish Pub has set aside five days of festivities starting Friday night. The Bill Quigley Band kicks things off, followed by Daylight for Deadeyes on Saturday. For those who are up for it, an Irish Breakfast will be served from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sunday. An Irish luncheon will be served Tuesday, with live music and Irish dancers scheduled to closeout the party.

Graydon Bar & Grill will have Chris Ragwax serenading partygoers on Tuesday night starting at 5 p.m.

Cagney’s Steakhouse and Win Bar wants you to come celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with drink and food specials all day and well into the night.

The Franklin House has live music planned all day long.

Always remember if you plan to drink, don’t drive. Call a friend, call a cab, take a bus or attempt to walk.

Cheers.

Flood Lakes Park

I'm unsure what this location will be called but it is growing more natural with each seasons. The birds, butterflies, ducks and human all love these man made lakes and this quiet figure eight trail.

New Housing on Turney Drive

The townhouses on Turney Drive and Britanna are just about finished. They are attractive buildings some as high as four stories. I was surprised to see they are fencing each tiny front yard but it looks great! They even have a little children's park to complete the package.

Along the Credit River

The path along the Credit River is full of natural plants and wildlife. Families walk, people bike, couples picnic in and along the trails to River Grove Community centre.

Main Street at Night

The summer beauty in Streetsville at night is breathtaking.

Dowling house

The Dowling Heritage House at 2285 Britannia road west was the home where Streetsville first mayor Frank Dowling was born. Back in August 2010  the home that sits near the old Canada Brick Yard was destroyed "deliberately" when a gravel truck backed into it. At the time people said it could not be saved and the incident was begin investigated. Recently it has been boarded up and the outer bricks removed. We are hoping they are going to try to reconstruct and not just demolition this piece of history but we'll have to wait and see.

Bread and Honey Festival

Bread and Honey Festival Parade 2012

The cool but dry weather brought out visitors and Streetsville residents to watch this years parade.

Children and adults enjoyed the candy, music and the variety of floats that were present.
